GROUP PROFILE

About KPMS

Kababayang Pinoy Mountaineering Society a.k.a. KPMS is an outdoor group and adventure organizer based in the Philippines. Corporate slaves doubling as nature lovers; you will often find us spending our weekends exploring the nooks and crannies of the natural world. Mountaineering, camping, trekking, some spelunking, and snorkeling on occasion are the common interests that bind us.

KPMS started out as a group of work colleagues, who, after getting tired of prowling the jungles of Ayala Avenue, decided to break the monotony, and instead make their way and take their climbing (other than the 11th floor of the LKG Building) to a different level-the mountains.

Mt. Pico de Loro in November 2009, was the start for these fledgling mountaineers, and after vowing to come back (hopefully with a better fogless view of the tower and the summit, and yes, better shoes!) it was immediately followed by a trek to Mt. Maculot (with the team becoming bigger) and Mt. Batulao (where the first ever written evidence of the group-KPMS-exists in the mountain records). And now several mountains after (yes, with Mt. Pico de Loro take 2) and from Kalabit Penge to Kababayang Pinoy, the Kababayang Pinoy Mountaineering Society-KPMS-is up and trekking!

Vision

KPMS aims to promote local tourism focused on nature and adventure travel, while advocating environmental awareness and responsible travel.

Mission

KPMS is a network of people who share the same interest, of people who want to express themselves and their individuality through nature, by taking on adventures and risks, trying out new things and widening their experience.
